An excellent introduction to square basketry making an extremely useful basket for the garden or holding magazines and newspapers.
Taught by Kim Creswell
Sat 25 Jul 2015
Why spend money on willow baskets for your garden or home when you can make your own?! This is a fun, hands-on course which showcases the joys of working with willow and teaches the simple willow weaving techniques of this ancient craft.
During the workshop you will be using farmed Somerset willow together with multi-coloured willow grown in Dorset. By the end of the day you will have created your very own basket to take home.
Kim Creswell has been enchanted by natural materials all of her life and first encountered the joy of working with willow over 20 years ago. Kim began teaching basketry, sculpture and other rural crafts in 1999 and has held many successful and enjoyable willow weaving workshops and demonstrations in venues as diverse as National Trust properties, music and arts festivals, schools, corporate team building events and village halls, to name but a few.
Kim will be teaching a range of willow courses at Kingcombe in 2015 including Willow Structures for the Garden (Sun 10 May), Willow Badger Sculptures (Sun 26 Jul) and Festive Willow (Sat 21 Nov)
