Illustrating Butterflies and Moths Workshop
Saturday 4 August 2018 09:45 - Sunday 5 August 2018 16:00
This course will explore the techniques used to draw and paint butterflies and moths, including drawing to scale and accurate colour-mixing. In addition, there will be the opportunity to observe moths from the moth trap, a non-harmful method to monitor the moth species found in an area.
Initially you will create an illustrated study sheet of a particular species and by the end of the course each student will have completed a painting to take home, having learnt during the weekend what to look for in terms of composition, form and accuracy.
There will be demonstrations and individual tuition throughout and access to numerous natural history art resources, such as books, articles and examples of other artist’s work. Photographs and set specimens will be used as subject matter. This course is ideal for people wanting to keep a seasonal/nature sketchbook.
All levels of experience are welcome and our small class size will ensure individual tuition. The guidance and motivation you will receive on the course will equip you with the skills to develop in the future.
