A truly unique dining experience al fresco (weather permitting) including a delicious three course dinner.

Hosted by Imogen Davenport and John Stobart

Sat 18 Jul 2015

Bats, arguably Britain’s least well understood mammals, are now subject to amazing new discoveries every year. Hear about their secretive and fascinating world and how local volunteers in Dorset are playing their part in ground-breaking research.

The Kingcombe valley is well known for its population of bats, many of which roost around the centre.  Join us for a special summer dining event, where we’ll be eating al fresco at dusk with the opportunity to discuss the bats in the area.   After dinner we will head out to discover the bats of Kingcombe using bat detectors, which you can use to listen to bat calls normally out of range of human hearing, and then have a chance to search for them nearby.

We’ll be walking a short distance for which sturdy shoes are advisable but the walk will not be strenuous. Please bring a torch. If you have a bat detector of your own do bring it, but bat detectors for all to try out will be provided on the night.

Imogen Davenport is Dorset Wildlife Trust’s Director of Conservation, and has been working for the Trust since 1996. John Stobart has worked for Natural England in Dorset since 1997. Both have been volunteering with Dorset Bat Group for many years.
