Astro-photography Workshop

Saturday 17 March 2018 16:30 - Sunday 18 March 2018 13:00

Discover the techniques for capturing the incredible night sky, including composition and post-production.

Join local astro-photographer Stephen Banks for this fabulous opportunity to start learning how to shoot the stars!

The workshop will start on the Saturday afternoon with an introductory session in which Stephen will cover the details on how to plan your night shoot. After a break for dinner, you will head out to the surrounding field at Kingcombe to practise capturing the night sky and learn how to build your compositions. Kingcombe is set in the heart of the ‘dark sky’ in West Dorset, and offers fabulous star strewn skies with very little interruption.

With astro-photography, the image making process does not normally finish when you press the shutter; good post processing skills are vital to making the most of your image. During the second part of the workshop on Sunday morning Stephen will show the basics of how to work with your image including hints and tips on how to make your images stand out from the crowd.

Suitable for any level of experience from beginner to advanced practitioner, although you will need to have had some experience of working with a digital camera and be able to use photographic software.

Stephen Banks, aka @DorsetScouser is based in Bridport and is one of a growing number of photographers who have set their lens to the distant galaxies.
