Design and make your own willow animal on this extended weekend, learning willow design, shaping and formation techniques.

We are excited to offer this new course to Kingcombe; an extended weekend willow sculpture workshop allowing the student to develop more detail, form and design for their own unique animal sculpture.  You will start with a planning and design session on Friday evening with Kim.  Suggested animals are foxes, sheep, deer, chicken or a pig, although if you have other ideas do bring them along and Kim will be able to advise whether they are suitable for translation into willow.  Photographs and drawings are a really useful source of inspiration.

The course will then move on to two full days in the workshop building the shape and form of your chosen animal sculpture, as you learn about structure to show animation and meaning.  Kim will provide guidance and individual tuition during the day sessions with the additional opportunity for you to continue working in the studio unsupervised on the Saturday evening.

This course is specifically restricted to a low number of spaces to allow plenty of individual attention from Kim.

Suitable for those with no experience or some of working with willow.  The workshop will be using both farmed Somerset willow and the multi-coloured willow grown in Dorset, and we have included in the price materials for one sculpture.  Be prepared for a very hands-on craft.
