Shibori with Indigo Weekend Workshop
Fri 2 - Sun 4 Sep 2016
Learn this traditional Japanese art of stitch resist dyeing to create your own unique textile designs.
The process of dyeing with indigo is magical. Learn to stitch and shape the fabric to resist the dye (called shibori) creating amazing patterns. The weekend gives you the time to really explore many different ways of creating designs, and allows time to compose and produce a larger piece of work, perhaps a long hanging, a series of cushions, a fabulous scarf or the fabric for a lampshade. Or if you are a quilter you may want to make many varied pieces to add that something special to your own projects.
During this weekend workshop, you will start by generating a number of small pieces to become familiar with the many different types of stitching and ways of manipulating the fabric. You will be able to explore and practice the many stitch resist shibori techniques under the expert guidance of Annabel. She has many useful tips on how to work successfully and progress, and to realise your design ideas.
Suitable for all and no previous experience is necessary although an enjoyment of sewing is really helpful.
Included are the initial fabric pieces to experiment with and all dye stuffs and equipment. There will be an extra charge for fabrics used in creating your special piece/s from £5 to £20 depending on fabrics selected. Silk and wool as well as cotton will be available.

Comments from previous events:
A wonderful venue! The shibori course led by Annabel Wilson was relaxed, informative and very productive! I think everybody learned new techniques and left with beautiful examples of stitch-resist indigo dyeing. The lunch was super! - Penelope.
What an excellent day. The course with Annabelle was really good, plenty to learn amd loads of help if needed. The lunch was excellent, served in lovely surroundings and the fairy cakes in the afternoon were first class. Can't wait for my next visit - Jane.
