Stars, garlands, reindeer and more on this fun crafty Christmas workshop.
Put away the tinsel and the fake snowflakes, and come and spend an enjoyable morning creating your own Christmas decorations for your home. We will start with a wreath for the front door and then you can choose what to make next – hearts, stars, angels, wands, trees or even a mince pie platter!
This is a fun, hands-on course which showcases the joys of working with willow and teaches simple willow weaving techniques. All materials are included.
About the Leader:
Norah Kennedy's love of natural materials started when she worked as a herdswoman and was enhanced when she retrained as a willow basket maker in the 1980s. Her interest lies in making baskets that are ‘right in themselves and good for use’ and reviving at least a portion of the many traditional uses for willow that have been superseded, but not surpassed, by synthetic materials. She has been teaching at Kingcombe for nineteen years.
Norah will be teaching a range of willow courses at Kingcombe in 2017 including: Willow Weekend Workshop (Fri 21 – Sun 23 Apr); Willow Structures for the Garden (Mon 24 Apr) and Willow Workshop (Mon 13 – Thur 16 Nov).
£85 pp - includes all tuition, materials as per above, morning tea.
Arrive from 9.45am for morning tea. The course will start at 10.00am and finish at 4pm.
What to bring:
All tools are provided, however please bring the following if you already have them: a sharp pair of secateurs, a knife and a notebook. Willow work can be a little messy so we recommend bringing an apron or wearing old clothes.
Why not make it a long crafty weekend by booking this with our Printmaking Workshop (Sat 18 Nov) and Lino Christmas Cards Workshop (Sun 19 Nov)?
